Geistlich at EAO 2025 Monaco: Regeneration in Action

EAO 2025: A Hub for Regenerative Dentistry
The European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) Congress 2025 brought dental professionals from around the globe to Monaco for three inspiring days of implantology and regeneration. Geistlich was at the center of the action with a dynamic program of lectures, workshops, and interactive sessions — all designed to help clinicians achieve predictable outcomes with biomaterials.
Geistlich Forum: A Solid Foundation for Implant Success
On Thursday afternoon, the Geistlich Forum addressed one of the most critical questions in implant dentistry: how to ensure long-term success.
Three experts, three approaches
- Prof. France Lambert (Belgium): Decision-making for immediate implant placement, with a focus on careful case selection.
- Dr. Beatriz Sanchez (UK): The role of alveolar ridge preservation — when, why, and how it impacts patient outcomes.
- Prof. Istvan Urban (Hungary): One for All — 20 years of sausage.
Together, the speakers provided clinicians with evidence-based strategies to navigate complex cases and set the stage for lasting success.
Regeneration in Focus: Insights During Breaks
Predictable Bone Regeneration with Dr. Wiem Bouaziz
Dr. Wiem Bouaziz (France) presented her evidence-based protocols for predictable bone regeneration in modern dentistry. Drawing from both clinical experience and published research, she outlined practical approaches to socket preservation, guided bone regeneration (GBR), and sinus augmentation. Dr. Bouaziz emphasized that achieving sufficient bone volume in both horizontal and vertical dimensions is the foundation of successful implant therapy.
Restoring vs. Replacing: Alveolar Ridge Preservation with Dr. Viraj Patel
Dr. Viraj Patel (UK) led two highly interactive hands-on booth workshops on alveolar ridge preservation (ARP), guiding participants through the biological and clinical foundations of this essential procedure. He explained how socket anatomy, the healing cascade, and natural ridge resorption affect long-term treatment outcomes. Through clinical case reviews and step-by-step demonstrations, participants learned to evaluate case indications, select grafting materials and membranes, and apply surgical techniques such as flap management and socket sealing. With its clear learning objectives and emphasis on practical decision-making, the workshop empowered clinicians to integrate ARP into comprehensive treatment planning, ensuring better conditions for future restorative and implant therapies. His message — replace what is lost vs. preserve what you stand to lose — resonated strongly with young clinicians.
Saving “Hopeless” Teeth with Dr. Arthur Brincat
During a booth lecture, Dr. Arthur Brincat (France) explored whether so-called “hopeless” teeth can be saved with modern regenerative techniques. By combining minimally invasive surgery, xenografts, hyaluronic acid, and connective tissue grafts, Dr. Brincat demonstrated that deep infrabony defects can be effectively treated. He highlighted the role of hyaluronic acid in stabilizing the blood clot, supporting cell proliferation, and enhancing tissue regeneration. Clinical results presented showed that even teeth with very poor prognosis could be preserved, achieving attachment gains comparable to the most established regenerative protocols.
Hands-On Workshops: Skills for Everyday Practice
REGENFAST® in Bone Regeneration with Dr. Federico Rivara
Dr. Federico Rivara (Italy) led an intensive hands-on workshop focused on guided bone regeneration (GBR) techniques. After presenting clinical cases backed by scientific evidence, he introduced participants to the use of REGENFAST® in GBR procedures, highlighting its handling properties and clinical benefits. Attendees learned not only how to integrate Regenfast® into their treatment workflows but also gained tips, tricks, and guidelines for optimizing outcomes. The session concluded with practical exercises on plastic models, allowing clinicians to practice biomaterial handling and leave with skills directly transferable to daily practice.
Managing Peri-Implantitis with Dr. Ausra Ramanauskaite
Dr. Ausra Ramanauskaite (Germany) tackled one of the greatest challenges in implant dentistry: regenerative treatment of peri-implantitis. She guided participants step by step through surgical protocols, with a focus on flap design, modern soft tissue manipulation, and suturing techniques essential for long-term stability. A highlight of the session was practicing soft tissue volume grafting in the esthetic zone — a technique critical for achieving natural outcomes in compromised sites. Participants also learned strategies for establishing keratinized tissue, an important factor in maintaining peri-implant health. By combining evidence-based reconstructive therapy with practical training, Dr. Ramanauskaite equipped clinicians to address peri-implantitis with confidence.
Meet the Experts: Q&A at the Geistlich Booth
On Friday at lunchtime, clinicians met directly with Prof. France Lambert, Dr. Beatriz Sanchez, and Prof. Istvan Urban for an open Q&A session. This informal exchange offered participants the chance to clarify questions from the Forum and engage in peer-to-peer learning.
