With its fertilizer and glue products, especially the white glue “Konstruvit,” Geistlich has been part of everyday life in Switzerland for generations. Even the famous Swiss author Friedrich Dürrenmatt wrote: “You can't work without scissors and Geistlich.” To this day, the family-owned company develops and manufactures its products in Switzerland and supplies the global market with high-quality products. The processing of bone and tissue has formed the basis of its business activities for 175 years. Building on this expertise, Geistlich has opened up new fields of application through groundbreaking scientific work today operates worldwide as a research-driven medical technology company.

Change as a constant
The company's history began in 1851 in Zurich-Riesbach and soon led to Switzerland's first glue factory in Schlieren. Over the decades, Geistlich developed a wide range of products from the processing of bones and tissue, up to pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. “Our values and our knowledge in the processing of bone and tissue have endured,” says Andreas Geistlich, Chairman of the Board of Directors and representative of the fifth generation. This expertise led to the development of the bone substitute Geistlich Bio-Oss® and the collagen membrane Geistlich Bio-Gide®, which have had a significant impact on the field of medical regeneration and opened up new possibilities in dentistry, for example in implantology. These and other Geistlich products are considered worldwide as the gold standard and support the body's own healing as well as the regeneration of bone, cartilage, and soft tissue.

A global leader in regeneration
Today, the Geistlich Group consists of three business units and employs around 1,000 people worldwide. Geistlich Pharma AG in Wolhusen forms the core of the group and is the global market leader in regenerative dentistry. Every 14 seconds, a Geistlich biomaterial is used somewhere in the world, for example for bone augmentation after tooth extraction. With Geistlich Immobilia AG, the group is developing its former industrial site in Schlieren into an urban, diverse neighborhood with a park. In Zofingen, DELTA Zofingen AG offers solutions in the areas of hygiene, cleanliness, and occupational safety, among others for the food industry and high-tech sectors such as the watch and pharmaceutical industries as well as measurement technology.

Swiss roots, global ambitions
Courage and pioneering spirit have characterized Geistlich from the very beginning: from the early industrialization of the Limmat Valley to the establishment of a pharmaceutical department in Wolhusen during World War II to today's cutting-edge research in regenerative medicine. “Geistlich's legacy stands for uncompromising quality and the commitment to advancing medical regeneration. We are determined to continue this legacy to help even more people worldwide with our products,” says Diego Gabathuler, CEO of Geistlich Pharma AG. In its anniversary year, Geistlich Pharma AG plans to launch 20 new products in over 40 countries.
