Simplifying Ridge Preservation Procedures
Geistlich Bio-Gide® Shape was designed with user-friendly handling in mind.
The membrane is strong enough for the open healing approach, which streamlines the treatment and is also less invasive, as it does not need flap elevation. This makes Ridge Preservation easier than with other membranes.
Ready To Use
Geistlich Bio-Gide® Shape is a ready-to-use membrane, available in a preformed shape for Ridge Preservation. The membrane can be trimmed for shorter extraction sockets. Geistlich Bio-Gide® Shape does not need to be pre-wetted and is used in a dry state.
Easy To Place
Geistlich Bio-Gide® Shape shares the same technology as Geistlich Bio-Gide® Compressed, giving it a slightly stiffer feel.
This membrane also has a slower liquid uptake than Geistlich Bio-Gide®.
Both of these aspects help to make the insertion and precise positioning of the membrane easier compared to the original Geistlich Bio-Gide®.
Geistlich Bio-Gide® Shape can be placed inside the extraction socket for ease of use, as shown here, or, after some mobilization of the soft tissue, outside the buccal wall for greater preserved bone volume. The bone substitute, such as our recommended Geistlich Bio-Oss® Collagen, is applied after the placement of the membrane.
Made for Open Healing
Geistlich Bio-Gide® Shape is used for an open healing approach. After tucking it under the gingiva, it is fixed with a cross-suture.
Open healing has major advantages compared to submerged healing:
- Less flap elevation or mobilization needed, making it less invasive for the patient.
- No movement of the mucogingival line, which means better esthetic outcomes.
Please note: after a few days a layer of fibrin is visible on top of the membrane. This is a natural part of the healing process. The fibrin layer will disappear and reveal the first layer of the newly formed soft tissue.
Allows Nutrient Transfer Early On
Like all Geistlich Bio-Gide®-family products, Geistlich Bio-Gide® Shape also allows early vascularization of the bone graft. These new blood vessels additionally supply the bone with nutrients and growth factors.
Stays As Long As Needed
Geistlich Bio-Gide® Shape prevents the ingrowth of fibroblast just as long as needed. The collagen membrane resorbs once the periosteum is healed, which normally takes between four and six weeks.
